Build With God

What Lasts From Everlasting to Everlasting

What Lasts From Everlasting to Everlasting thumbnail
Scripture:
From everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear him.
Psalm 103:17

Observation:
God’s love is not seasonal. It is not tied to quarters, markets, or outcomes. It stretches beyond my timeline, beyond my business lifecycle, beyond my best and worst days. His love rests on those who fear Him, those who orient their lives around Him with reverence and obedience.

Application:
I often say I care about legacy more than short term wins. But if I am honest, my calendar exposes me.

There have been seasons when I chased growth at the expense of presence at home. I justified late nights and constant Slack pings as necessary for the mission. I told myself it was just for a season. But seasons stack up. And what I consistently chose revealed what I truly feared and valued.

This verse pulls me back to alignment. From everlasting to everlasting is a long horizon. God is playing an infinite game. As a builder and leader, I am tempted to play a very short one.

The character trait this presses into me is faithfulness. Not flash. Not speed. Faithfulness.

Faithfulness shows up in small, repeated decisions. It means I build systems that reflect integrity even when no customer would notice the shortcut. It means I tell a client the truth about timeline and cost instead of smoothing it over to close the deal. It means I protect time with my wife and kids with the same intensity I protect a board meeting.

I remember a product launch where we were behind and cash was tight. We could have quietly reduced the scope of what we promised. Most customers would not have known. But we had publicly committed. I felt the pressure in my chest. Choosing faithfulness cost us margin that quarter. But it built trust that still pays dividends today.

If God’s love stretches from everlasting to everlasting, then I can afford to lead that way. I do not have to squeeze every opportunity dry. I do not have to compromise character for short term optics. I can fear Him more than I fear missing a number.

Leadership is not revealed by what I say I value. It is revealed by what I repeatedly choose. If I truly believe His love spans eternity, then my daily actions should reflect eternal priorities.

Prayer:
Lord, anchor my heart in what lasts.
Teach me to fear You more than I fear outcomes.
Help me choose faithfulness in the small decisions today.
Align my leadership with Your everlasting love.

Build With God,
Bill

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Psalm 103:17 mean when it says God’s love is from everlasting to everlasting?

Psalm 103:17 means that God’s love is not temporary or tied to performance. It stretches beyond your current season, beyond your wins and failures, and beyond the lifespan of your business. His love rests on those who fear Him, meaning those who orient their lives around Him with reverence and obedience. For a leader, this reframes everything. You are not building for a quarter. You are building in light of eternity. When you truly believe His love spans forever, you can stop chasing short term validation and start making decisions that reflect lasting character.

How does believing in God’s everlasting love change the way I run my business?

Believing that God’s love spans eternity allows you to lead with steady faithfulness instead of urgency driven compromise. You no longer have to squeeze every deal or protect every margin at the expense of integrity. In practice, this means telling clients the truth about cost and timeline, honoring public commitments, and building systems that reflect honesty even when shortcuts would go unnoticed. It shifts your focus from optics and short term gains to trust and long term impact. When you fear God more than you fear missing a number, your leadership becomes stable, consistent, and trustworthy.

Why is faithfulness more important than speed or flash in leadership?

Faithfulness matters more than speed because leadership is revealed in repeated daily choices, not big visible moments. Flash can attract attention, but faithfulness builds trust over time. In seasons of pressure, you are tempted to prioritize growth, recognition, or quick wins. But character is formed in small decisions that no one applauds. Choosing integrity over margin, honesty over convenience, and presence over busyness shapes who you become. Over time, those choices define your leadership. Faithfulness may feel slower, but it compounds in ways that shortcuts never will, both in business and in your own soul.

How can I prioritize my family when business pressure keeps demanding more time?

You prioritize your family by treating time at home as a non negotiable stewardship, not leftover space. Pressure will always justify one more meeting or late night. Seasons stack up quickly. If you consistently sacrifice presence at home for growth, your calendar will expose what you truly fear and value. Protecting time with your wife and children requires the same intentionality you give to a board meeting or product launch. When you believe God is playing an infinite game, you can step back from short term urgency and choose faithfulness in your most important relationships.

What is one practical way to lead with eternal priorities this week?

One practical way is to review your calendar and remove or reschedule one commitment that conflicts with a core family or character priority. This simple action exposes what you truly value. It may mean declining a meeting, adjusting a deadline, or creating margin for a conversation at home. It may also mean honoring a promise to a client even if it costs you in the short term. Small repeated decisions shape long term impact. Leading with eternal priorities starts with concrete choices that align your schedule and behavior with what you say matters most.
